What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is an anti-plagiarism software adopted by USI. Turnitin checks for possible plagiarism by comparing submitted papers to several databases containing public web pages, student papers, library databases and publications. Turnitin compares the student’s work with the textes contained in the database and identifies the percentage of original work in a details report. The Turnitin database not only contains the textes available on the web, but also an enormous quality of academic textes like theses, dissertations, scientific articles, papers, etc. In fact, it is extended by the users themselves each time they upload documents to generate the Originality report. An ever grater number of teachers and assistans at USI use Turnitin systematically to correct all kinds of written work.
